Events Carers and Family Can Get Involved With

1.  Eight local authorities that will become Right to Control Trailblazers.

When the Trailblazers start at the end of 2010, disabled people in these areas will have more choice over the support they receive. Disabled people will be able to make their own decisions about how to spend the funding they are eligible for, in areas such as personal care, employment and housing support.

To find out if a Trailblazer will be in your area, visit:

2.  Research into Benefits of Using Lights & Lighting AsSensory Stimulation

I am currently researching the use and benefits of using Lights and lighting as sensory stimulation for those with PMLD. The reason for this is I am designing a new product to help develop people's abilities and skills and I would really like to get it right for them and make a difference.

I have prepared a very quick online one page survey that I have had some response to but simply need as many people  as possible to give their views.   To access the survey, click here

Please have a look and if you could help, that would be fantastic!

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards

Sam Tarratt

3. New Journal:

Lots of people with older children with FASD or those caring for young adults become concerned about their involvement with the criminal justice system.   This new bulletin seeks to address the needs of those with learning difficulties caught up in the justice system and may be of interest to some carers / parents.  For more details follow the weblink below.
