On 2nd March 2007 we held a training seminar in Witney, Oxfordshire with presentations by Dr Raja Mukherjee on the medical aspects of FASD and Mrs Gloria Armistead from FAS Aware UK gave a parent's view on living with a child who has FAS.
Dr Mukherjee is the UK's leading medical specialist on FASD. He is a Consultant Psychiatrist and also lecturers at St George's Medical School, part of the University of London.
Mrs Armistead is the founder of FAS Aware UK. She and her husband have a 13 year old son who has FAS.
The event was well-attended with an audience of teachers, social workers, speech & language therapists, educational psychologists and other professionals working with children, as well as foster parents and potential adoptive parents, who all reported that they found the afternoon very informative and helpful.
We were very grateful to Sara Louise Kakes, Witney Rotary Club, Hampers of Woodstock and Costa Coffee, Witney for their support enabling us to hold this event.
