New NICE Guidelines

New NICE Guidelines

We were extremely pleased that the new NICE Guidelines recommending no alcohol in pregnancy were published in March 2008 and Julia Brown was given the opportunity to speak on BBC Radio Oxford about this.   Hopefully, if you were in the area, you got to hear her speaking to Phil Mercer.

Along with our sister organisation, FAS Aware UK, we had submitted to NICE as a Stakeholder our view that the advice being given to pregnant women on intake of alcohol should be clear, with the message being, "no alcohol is best and safest".   This brings us into line with the WHO (World Health Organisation) and the majority of other countries, where women have been given this information for many years.

If you are pregnant and concerned, please call our helpline, 0560 268 9478 and do speak with your midwife or GP.

Note to Editors:  We are always happy to speak to the press or contribute to your publication or programme.
